In November this year, the New Zealand Geothermal Workshop and and the Geoscience Society of New Zealand will be be holding a joint conference in Auckland showcasing the latest in New Zealand geoscience research and practice including a strong geothermal programme. The meeting will also include an overlap day with the annual meeting of the New Zealand branch of the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy. The theme of the overlap day is "Research • Economy • Frontiers" and will explore the interplay of pure and applied research across the academic-industry divide.

 

History

The New Zealand Geothermal Workshop is New Zealand's longest running, annual meeting on energy technology.  In 2010 it will be held for the 32nd time.  In 2009, it was held in Rotorua, 16 - 18 November.

In 2008, it was held in Taupo (10-12 November) and celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Wairakei power station and the 30th anniversary of the Geothermal Workshop.
